About Rob

Robert A. Hawks, Jr., CPARob has been assisting central California clients in a wide variety of  tax, accounting, reporting, and compliance issues since 1988.  Rob is authorized to act as an advocate and client representative before the IRS and state authorities.  Rob serves as consultant and analyst for clients including individuals, trusts, estates, corporations, partnerships, S-corporations, LLC’s, LLP’s, and non-profit organizations. Rob particularly enjoys the role of objective commentator when functioning as an internal auditor, expert witness, or business consultant.

Rob spent 10 years at a respected CPA firm in Modesto; 4 years as the partner responsible for the firm’s tax Quality Assurance process where every tax return produced by the 21 person office went through Rob before delivery.  Rob’s work experience also includes serving as CFO for Premiera Care, the parent company of Dale Commons and other locations. The chain of facilities was sold in a $72 million deal closing in 2011.

Rob has worked with, on, and through computers since 1983 in a variety of settings.  He is proficient with several accounting software packages, from the most popular to the most sophisticated.   Rob has significant operating system, hardware, and software configuration and implementation experience, and serves as the firm’s primary IT department.

Rob is an active member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the California Society of Certified Public Accountants (CalCPA), the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts (NACVA), and the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE).

Licensed by the California Board of Accountancy, Rob passed the entire CPA exam in one sitting, receiving special recognition for this exemplary achievement.  Reflecting Rob’s emphasis in Taxation,  he also passed the 2-day IRS Special Enrollment examination on his first attempt, and is an IRS “Enrolled Agent” (EA).  This designation is not held by all CPAs, and means that Rob is recognized by the IRS as a tax expert and client representative during audit proceedings and other dealings.

In addition to the annually required accounting, ethics, and income tax education, continuing professional education coursework has included Intermediate and Advanced MS Excel, MS Word, PC Troubleshooting and maintenance, and Network system operations.  Rob is an excellent teacher and has trained many bookkeepers and accountants to leverage technology for maximum efficiency.

Rob has been involved in many civic, educational, and non-profit organizations.  Rob has a heart for social service organizations and regularly provides “pro-bono” services in addition to serving as a volunteer laborer!

Rob enjoys computers, artwork, golf, music, and family activities including backpacking, camping, snow skiing, water skiing, church and family gatherings.

Tina Mora
Rob was an incredibly patient teacher and mentor to me when I stepped into a position that included bookkeeping and financial management duties that were new to me. His calm demeanor and “no problem” attitude always kept me focused and able to learn with minimal frustration. He has a keen eye for detail and is very easy to work with.
